McKenzie and Coleman Named Honorable Mention All-Big Ten

University of Minnesota Golden Gophers Lawrence McKenzie and Dan Coleman were named honorable mention All-Big Ten today by the conference coaches and media. McKenzie was honored on both teams while Coleman was selected by the conference media.

A redshirt junior from Minneapolis, McKenzie led the Gophers in scoring at 15.3 points per game and assists at 2.8 assists per contest. He set school marks for three-pointers in a season with 77 and three-pointers attempted with 203. McKenzie finished the Big Ten season tied for eighth in scoring in conference games at 14.8 points per game and tied for 11th in assists at 3.19 assists per game. His free-throw percentage of .825 was good enough for fifth place and his 2.44 threes per game was tied for fourth best in the league. McKenzie played the second-most minutes of any Big Ten player this season, averaging 36.68 minutes per contest.

Coleman, a redshirt junior from Hopkins, was second on the team in scoring at 14.4 points per game. He scored in double figures in 15 of 16 conference contests and 26 times on the year. He posted five double-doubles in 2006-07 and finished tied for 12th in league scoring at 13.6 ppg. His 6.6 rebounds per contest was fifth in Big Ten play and his 1.44 blocks per game tied for fourth.

Sophomore Jamal Abu-Shamala was the Gopher recipient of the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award.
