Gopher Football Team Announces 2007 Team Captains

University of Minnesota head football coach Tim Brewster announced tonight that senior center Tony Brinkhaus, senior tailback Amir Pinnix, senior linebackers Mike Sherels and John Shevlin, senior offensive tackle Steve Shidell and junior defensive end Willie VanDeSteeg have been selected as team captains for the Gopher football team for the 2007 season.
“I am pleased to announce that our football team has chosen its captains and leaders for the 2007 football season,” said Brewster. “These players will play a significant role in determining our success this year. Our football team is excited about these six guys, and I am extremely excited about them as well. They represent the standard that we are setting at the University of Minnesota.”
The Gophers open their season against Bowling Green on Saturday, Sept. 1 at the Metrodome at 7 p.m.
