Monday proved to be a very productive day for the Minnesota football team as the Golden Gophers worked through their first two-a-day workouts of training camp.
Drilling in near perfect weather conditions, the Gophers worked in full pads during the morning session that ended shortly after 11 a.m.
Minnesota returned to the Rod Wallace practice fields at the Gibson-Nagurski Football Complex in shells for their second workout of the day, which wrapped up at approximately 6:30 p.m.
“What we are emphasizing today is game speed and doing things with tremendous urgency and tempo,” said head coach Tim Brewster. “Get into the huddle and get out and lined up for the next play.
Brewster also took time to talk about the effort the Gophers have displayed thus far in camp.
“We’ve had good work,” Brewster said. “High-intensity, high-energy and high-enthusiasm is what we’re all about.”
Minnesota will have a single workout on Tuesday afternoon before holding the second two-a-day of the 2007 season on Wednesday.
