Melanie Gagnon Named to Fifth-Straight Canadian Under-22 Team

University of Minnesota junior defenseman Melanie Gagnon will make her fifth straight appearance as a member of the Canadian Under-22 Team, announced by Hockey Canada. Gagnon and the rest of the Canadian Under-22 Team will face the United States Under-22 team August 23-26 in Lake Placid, N.Y.

Gagnon finished her sophomore season with five goals and 22 assists for 27 points. The St. Adolphe, Man., native ranked fourth overall on the team and first by defensemen in scoring. A third-team All-WCHA selection, Gagnon led the team in assists and ranked 10th in the conference. She improved her point production by 16 points from her rookie to sophomore seasons, where she held 11 points in 2005-06 and was named to the WCHA All-Rookie Team.
