Bowling Green Coach Gregg Brandon

On: Deciding on the two-point conversion

“We decided before (the time-out). I think that is why they took the time-out. We talked about it that if we get overtime on the road that would be the decision. We made the decision long before tonight. In a hostile environment and especially with the crowd into it like they were and being in the Big Ten, we had to go for it so we did. Absolutely was the plan.'

On: QB Tyler Sheehan

“I thought he was outstanding. He is really a true sophomore. I thought he was remarkably poised for the situation of being in a hostile environment and the fans were loud in the second half when they got the lead. I think we really hung in there and we faced adversity and came through that. We talk about character showing up in the face of adversity. Our kids' character showed up today. Our seniors did a great job leading.'

On: WR Freddie Barnes

“Freddie proved a long time ago that he is a playmaker. Whether he was running, getting a direct snap or receiving, Freddie emerged today. When (Corey) Partridge came down, we challenged all our receivers to step it up. Partridge was the go-to-guy in the first half, the kids responded and that is why I am so proud of them.'

On: Minnesota's rushing

“I think they wore us down late in the third quarter and early in the fourth. Running the quarterback, the quarterback is a tough kid. (Adam) Weber did a great job that way. (Amir) Pinnix is a strong back and their line is physical. That is a Big Ten line and I think they wore us out in the second half. Again, we hung in there and made plays down the stretch and were fortunate to win the game.'

On: The win

“It was great coming off of a tough season last year. I maintained all last year that we struggled because of youth and inexperience. We played a lot of kids that were not ready to play. All those kids came back and fought through the adversity of eight months of getting their butts kicked in the weight room. Spring football was very physical and they showed up today on a mission. It is just one game. Michigan State blew someone out today. We've got to go do that now.'

On: Injuries

“He (Partridge) tweaked his ankle a little bit. He will be fine. Loren (Hargrove) just had a little shoulder injury. He is okay. I think the guys got a little beat up. It was a physical game. Anytime you come in and play people like this, there is going to be some wear and tear. We've got to do it again next week. Thank God we have a bye after Michigan State to get ready for our next game against Temple. We will need it. We might just take a week off.'

On: Final play of regulation

“We actually practice that. We call that rugby. Doug Philips, my defensive end coach, he is an old rugby player. He played rugby in college. We practiced that play and put it into camp and practiced it and almost pulled it off. The guys just keep on lateraling the ball and staying behind the ball. It was really fun to watch.'

On: Minnesota converting third and fourth downs

“We had guys open all night. We just stalled in the third quarter. I give Minnesota credit, they changed some things up at halftime and caught us off balance a little bit. Once we were able to figure that out in the fourth quarter, we were able to get clicking again. Sheehan was sharp. He was putting the ball on the money. The receivers were getting tired but they played through cramps and those types of things, but Sheehan was outstanding, definitely.'
