Opening statement:
"Obviously I’m very excited about getting a chance to play again this week.  The disappointment came with the outcome of Saturday night’s game, but after having looked at it a few times, we feel a whole lot better about things, and we’ve got some areas of concern that we’ll address this week in practice.  Depth chart things, scheme things, things like that.  We focused on being a whole lot better against Miami on Saturday.

"We’re pleased with how our kids competed in the second half.  I asked them to play sixty plus minutes and they did that.  Obviously that something I’m very pleased with and excited about.  We’ll keep getting better.  There are a lot of positive things that came out of the game on Saturday.

"We’ve got another good opponent on Saturday in Miami of Ohio.  They’ve been a great program for a long time.  Shane Montgomery is doing a good job, they’re coming off a tough year.

"They had a good week last week as they beat Ball State 14-13.  They did a lot of good things and they are similar to Bowling Green in their style of play on offense.  Offensively, though, they are a little bit more balanced.  They’ll try to run the football a little bit more.  I really like their quarterback, a 6’2”, 220 pound kid who is very athletic, who’s got a really good arm, he’s going to run the ball, run the zone read, he can really do some things with his feet.  He’s got some people to throw it to.  Brandon Murphy, their tailback is a kid who rushed for over 1,000 yards in 2005.  He missed 2006, but he’s a great weapon back there who has great speed and ability to cut. Offensively, they will try to spread the field and create some running lanes.  I think they will make much more of a commitment to run the football than Bowling Green did.

"On defense, they run a 4-3 base scheme.  I like their personnel, I think their strong safety is one of the better safeties that we’ll see all year.  He does a great job getting his nose down in the box and he does a lot of great things.  Joey Hudson, their middle linebacker, is a guy I really like that I think is a Butkis Award candidate.  He plays the game the way it’s supposed to be played; very hard, very physical.  He’s very similar to Mike Sherels.  They play with great passion and energy on defense.  I think we’ve got our work cut out for us.  Its more about us than anything else."

On Harold Howell:
"I think that his reputation precedes him.  He’s a 10 300 meters guy from the state of Florida and there’s a lot of people that are very aware of Harold Howell and the damage that he can do.  I was just very pleased with the control and confidence he played with.  He’s going to be around for the next four years and he’ll be exciting to watch.

"Seven true freshmen played a considerable amount the other night.  We’re going to play the young kids and we’re not afraid to do that.  We’re going to get our best players on the field, regardless of their age."

On Adam Weber:
"He had a sense of calmness about him.  At no point was he not in control of his emotions.  There were some throws in the first half that he was short on that he has to make, but he made some nice throws in the second half.  We don’t want him running as much as he did.  We are very pleased with the progress he’s made as our quarterback.

"We’ve got to do a better job of blocking the perimeter in the option game.  These are things that we’ll work on this week.  We can’t have him carrying the ball 18 times, without question."

On the offensive scheme:
"We are going to be a physical, running football team.  We ran the football with great success the other night.  We’ll probably run the ball a little bit more in the first half.  We’re going to have a plan for each of our three backs, we’ll have their touches scripted prior to the game and I think that’ll serve us well."
