Women's Tennis Team Adds Panova as Assistant Coach

A former Pac-10 Conference Player of the Year, Daria Panova has been added as an assistant coach with the University of Minnesota women’s tennis team.
Panova was the 2003 Pac-10 Conference Player of the Year at Oregon and compiled a 93-47 singles record and 61-47 doubles mark during her four years. Her 93 career singles victories are the most of any player in Oregon history. She was ranked 51st nationally as a senior in 2004-05 and qualified for the NCAA individual championships for the third straight year.
“Daria has competed at the highest level of collegiate tennis,” Minnesota coach Tyler Thomson said. “Her background and knowledge will be tremendous contributions, as will her passion for being a part of our tennis program.”
At Oregon, Panova set a single-season school record with 32 victories during both the 2003 and 2004 seasons. She was a two-time All-American and three-time all-Pac-10 Conference selection. Panova helped the Ducks reach the NCAA tournament three straight years and she won Pac-10 individual indoor and outdoor championships in 2003.
A Moscow, Russia native, Panova’s Russian club team captured three straight Polish team tournament titles. Following her Oregon playing career, she spent a year as a club pro in East Hampton, N.Y. and coached under-14 players in Moscow.
