Watch Gopher Women's Hockey Live in the Gold Zone

Golden Gopher women's hockey fans can watch all the action as Minnesota takes on Minnesota State tonight at 7 p.m.

MINNESOTA HOSTS MINNESOTA STATE
The University of Minnesota women’s hockey team hosts Minnesota State, Friday and Saturday night at 7 p.m. The Golden Gophers hold an all-time record of 37-3-2, dating back to the 1998 season when hockey became a MSU varsity sport. Since MSU’s head coach Jeff Vizenor took over in 2001, the Gophers are 25-3-2 against MSU and since 2005-06, have held a 9-2-1 mark against the Mavericks. In the last three years, the Gophers and Mavericks have played six games in which were one-goal decisions.
MINNESOTA STATE MAVERICKS
Minnesota State’s last action came Jan. 11-12 when it faced Minnesota Duluth in Mankato, Minn. The Mavericks fell to the Bulldogs, 2-1 and 5-2, putting their record at 6-15-1 overall and 5-12-1 in the WCHA. MSU is led in scoring by junior forward Maggie Fisher. In 22 games played, Fisher has scored eight goals and nine assists for 17 points. Kala Buganski and Kristina Bunker round out the Mavericks’ top three scorers with 12 and 11 points. In goal is Britni Kehler, who has seen action in 21 of the Mavericks’ 22 games. She holds an 89 save percentage.
THE LAST TIME
The Gophers swept Minnesota State, 6-0 and 1-0 in the series at Mankato, Minn., Dec 7-8. In the first game, Gigi Marvin and Anya Miller each scored two goals to lead the Gophers to a 6-0 shutout. In all, Marvin tallied four points, while nine other Golden Gophers earned a point in the win. Kim Hanlon earned her third shutout of the season. She helped keep the Gophers in the game with 12 saves in the first, had nine in the second and four in the third for a three-period total of 25. In the second game of the series, Erica McKenzie and Jenny Lura helped the Gophers to a 1-0 win. After a scoreless first period, McKenzie scored the lone goal of the game at 17:14 in the second period. Lura had 19 saves in the game en route to her second shutout of her career.
