Gopher Women’s Hockey A Decade of Excellence

This commemorative 25-minute DVD covers the rich history and success of the first ten years of the women’s hockey program at the University of Minnesota--from 1997-2007. During that time, the Gophers won three national championships; had eight national tournament appearances; and won at least twenty games in each season. With an overall record of 278-67-22 (for a winning percentage of almost 80%) and five players who went on to represent their countries in the Olympic Games, there were many memorable moments during that first decade of existence.

This documentary includes game highlights and interviews with some of the pioneers of the program. Chris Voelz, Kathleen Ridder, Laura Halldorson, Natalie Darwitz, Winny Brodt, Nadine Muzerall, Erica Killewald, and Laura Slominski all share their memories and experiences in “Gopher Women’s Hockey A Decade of Excellence”. You will learn about how the program got started, understand why Ridder Arena was built, and relive some of the team’s special on-ice moments.
