Brook Dieter Named Big Ten Player of the Week

Sophomore outside hitter Brook Dieter (Bloomington, Minn.) was named Co-Big Ten Player of the Week with Purdue’s Stephanie Lynch on Monday, Oct. 20. It marked the first time this year, and fourth time in her career that Dieter has collected the honors.
Dieter also collected Big Ten Player of the Week honors three times in 2007 as a freshman. She received the honors on Sept. 3, 27 and Nov. 12 during the 2007 campaign.
The four Big Ten Player of the Week honors ties Dieter for second on the Minnesota career list. Dieter is tied with Paula Gentil, Cassie Busse and Andrea Gonzalez. Nicole Branagh is first on list, having collected seven player of the week honors during her career.
This past week, Dieter averaged 5.00 kps, 3.43 dps, 1.00 blps and hit .387 in a week where Minnesota went 2-0 against Michigan State and Iowa. Dieter hit .412 with 16 kills and no errors in 38 swings in a three-set victory against Iowa on Oct. 15. She also had five digs and two solo blocks in the match. Against Michigan State, Dieter finished with 19 kills, 19 digs, five solo blocks and hit .357 in a four-set victory over the Spartans.
Dieter is currently third in the Big Ten in kills in conference play at 4.18 kps. She also is seventh in the conference in kills (3.60 kps) and eighth in points at 4.23 pps.
