Minnesota Volleyball Team Ranked No. 12

The Minnesota volleyball team moved up one spot to No. 12 in the CSTV/AVCA Top 25 poll, which was released on Monday, Oct. 6. The Golden Gophers received 858 points in this week’s poll.
Minnesota has been ranked among the top 12 teams in the nation in five of the six polls this season.
This past week, the Golden Gophers went on the road and defeated No. 19 Illinois (3-2) and No. 18 Purdue (3-0). Minnesota is now 6-1 against ranked opposition this year.
The Golden Gophers are among six Big Ten teams that were ranked in this week’s poll. Penn State is No. 1, Purdue is No. 18, Illinois is ranked No. 19, Wisconsin sits at No. 21 and Michigan is No. 23. The Big Ten is tied with the Pac-10 for the most teams in the top 25 with six.
Minnesota will return home to face Indiana and No. 1 Penn State this week. The Golden Gophers will face the Hoosiers at the Sports Pavilion on Friday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. Minnesota will also face the defending-national champion Nittany Lions at Williams Arena on Saturday, Oct. 11 at 6 p.m.
