Series Notes

∙ Minnesota’s lead in the all-time series with Wisconsin slipped to 59-51-8 with today’s setback. The Golden Gophers are now 22-32-6 all-time in Madison.
∙ The Gophers have now dropped five in a row, six of seven and 12 of their last 14 meetings with the Badgers.
∙ Minnesota’s last win in the series was a 37-34 victory in the Metrodome on Nov. 8, 2003.
∙ The Gophers have not won at Camp Randall Stadium since Oct. 22, 1994 and have now lost seven straight in Madison.

Team Notes

∙ Minnesota falls to 7-4 with today’s setback. The loss was just the second of the season on the road for the Gophers, who fell to 3-2 away from home and saw their two-game road winning streak come to an end.
∙ With today’s setback, the Gophers have now lost three straight after opening the season with wins in 7 of 8.
∙ Minnesota lost for the first time this season when holding either a halftime or third quarter lead this season. Minnesota, which led 21-0 at intermission and 24-17 through three quarters, enter today’s game with a 5-0 record when leading at the half and a 7-0 mark when leading after three quarters.
∙ After allowing just two first quarter touchdowns in its first eight games, Minnesota found itself in an early hole for the third straight week. Wisconsin scored a touchdown on its opening possession after recovering an Adam Weber fumble at the Gophers’ 10-yard line. It marked the third straight week that Minnesota’s opponent has scored a touchdown on its opening possession of the game.
∙ Minnesota’s opening touchdown of the game with 13:30 to play in the second quarter snapped a seven quarter TD drought for the Gophers. It was Minnesota’s first TD since the Gophers scored with 36 seconds to play in half vs. Northwestern, a span of 107 minutes, 6 seconds of game time.
∙ Minnesota’s three second quarter touchdowns were more points that it has scored in any of its last three games. It also tied a season-high for points in a quarter by the Gophers. Minnesota also scored 21 points in a quarter against Bowling Green (4th) and Montana State (2nd).
∙ The Gophers finished the game with 32 points, their most in Big Ten play this season.
∙ Minnesota forced three turnovers today and now has 30 takeaways on season. That figure is more than double the 14 takeaways the Gopher defense came up last year.


Individual Notes

∙ Adam Weber finished the game 15-for-30 passing for 202 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also rushed for 43 yards, including a 6-yard score. Weber’s three TD passes equal his season high and are the most for the sophomore since he threw for the same number in game two at Bowling Green.
∙ Weber finishes the game ranked four all-time at Minnesota in career passing completions (480), yards (5,353), touchdown passes (38) and total offense (6,170).
∙ For the season, Weber has now completed 222 of 348 passes for 2,458 yards and 14 touchdowns. In the season record books, he ranks second in completions, sixth in passing yards and tied for 10th in touchdown passes.
∙ Adam Weber’s second quarter touchdown run was his fourth of the season and the ninth of his career.
∙ True freshman wide receiver Brandon Green scored his first career touchdown on a 4-yard pass from Adam Weber with 13:30 to play in the second quarter. He finished the game with five catches for 80 yards. Both figures were team highs. He has now led the Gophers in receiving yards three times this season.
∙ True freshman wide receiver Brodrick Smith hauled in his first career touchdown on a 43-yard pass from Adam Weber with 11:14 remaining in the second quarter. He ended the game with two receptions for 45 yards.
∙ True freshman Shady Salamon came off the bench to grab his first career touchdown reception on a 13-yard pass and score his first career 2-point conversion. For the game, Salamon finished with a season-high three catches for 40 yards to go with nine carriers for 29 yards.
∙ Willie VanDeSteeg collected three tackles, all for losses, including a pair of sacks, to become Minnesota’s all-time leader in career tackles for losses with 43.5. He is also now fourth in career sacks with 19.5.
∙ Garrett Brown block 33-yard field goal, notched a pass breakup and recovered a fumble... all in the first quarter.
∙ Tramaine Brock forced his fumble of the season, stripping PJ Hill with 5:55 second quarter. He finished the game with five total tackles.
∙ Simoni Lawrence forced fumble his second fumble of the season and finished with seven total tackles.
∙ Kyle Theret recovered posted his first two fumble recoveries of the season.
∙ Deon Hightower finished with a season-high 11 tackles, including his second sack of the season in third quarter to help stop a UW drive and force a field goal.
∙ Joel Monroe connected on a 30-yard field goal in the third quarter. He has now had a field goal in four straight games and has connected on 12 of 16 field goals this season.
