Iowa Head Coach Kirk Ferentz
On team’s performance:
“First of all I’m very pleased for our entire football team. They really played hard tonight and worked hard this week. More importantly, they ran the whole race. It’s a long season and we’ve had our ups and downs. I cannot say enough about the leadership we’ve gotten from our upperclassmen and a lot of other guys. I’m pleased with the attitude the team kept all through the season. For them to be rewarded this way tonight was a great win for our team. I’m just really happy for our guys.”
On Shonn Greene’s performance:
“Everybody in the locker room is thrilled for Shonn. It’s a tremendous accomplishment and he’s worked extremely hard. A lot of other guys have helped him but he has done a lot of work on his own as you have seen. The thing that I would add on to that is his humility, the way he’s handled the success has been so impressive. Maybe it has started a tradition because Tavian Banks called during the game to let Shonn know that he wanted to congratulate him. I’m just really pleased for everybody and it was a good night for the Hawkeyes.
On ending conference play with a win:
“First of all, this season isn’t over yet. Up to this point, it has been really enjoyable. I think I’ve said almost weekly that it’s been a great group of kids to work with. They’ve done a great job, they’ve committed on and off the field. They’re just a delightful group to work with and I cannot say enough about the players and staff we have. Again, we’ve lost some close ball games but the way we’ve handled the adversity and losses, I’m extremely proud of our team.”

As well as being a great player, Tavian is a great guy. Passing a record of a guy like that is truly an honor.”
On the play of Ricky Stanzi:
“He shows up every week, and everything was right on for him this week. It wasn’t so much things that he did, it was the things he didn’t do. We had our running game going, which opened up our offense and gave him more time to make good decisions. He was throwing a lot of deep balls and was cashing in. All around, I think he did a really good job.”
On fans encouraging him to stay for his senior year:
“I didn’t hear them today, but it’s difficult to say anything about it right now. I’m just more worried about the bowl game we’ll be playing. I’m just trying to stay focused on that and off my future beyond that.”
