Series Notes

∙Today’s meeting marked the 102nd meeting between Minnesota and Iowa. The Gophers’ lead in the all-time series was trimmed to 59-41-2.

∙Tonight’s game marks the final time Minnesota will play at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome. The Gophers finish with an 87-80-2 (.521) record at the Dome.

∙Tonight’s announced attendance of 64,071 marks the largest crowd to witness a Minnesota home game this season.

Individual Notes

∙ True freshman kick returner Troy Stoudermire returned nine kicks for school record 283 yards, a 31.4-yard average. With his performance this evening, Stoudermire sets the single-season school record for kick return yards with 909 yards.

∙Stoudermire’s 58-yard kickoff return in the second quarter was the longest of his career and the longest return of the season for the Gophers. The Dallas, Texas native also ripped off a 50-yarder midway through the fourth quarter.

∙Stoudermire finished the contest with 290 all-purpose yards, the fifth-most in Golden Gopher history.

∙Stoudermire’s 27.4-yard kick return average this season is tied with Bobby Weber for most all-time.

∙With a pair of catches, Eric Decker extended his school record for single-season receptions to 76. Decker’s 925 receiving yards this season are fourth-most in a single season in school history.

∙Decker’s 925 receiving yards this season are the fourth-most in a single season for Minnesota.

∙Senior linebacker Deon Hightower recorded a season-high 10 tackles.

∙Redshirt freshman defensive end Anthony Jacobs recorded the first sack of his career. Jacobs combined with Hightower to drop Iowa’s Ricky Stanzi for a sack late in the first quarter.

∙Junior Nate Triplett recorded his first career start at linebacker.

∙Junior wideout David Pittman hauled in his first career catch with a reception early in the fourth quarter. Pittman finished the contest with two catches for 19 yards.

∙Senior punter Justin Kucek dropped four of his six punts inside the Hawkeyes’ 20-yard line. With his 21st punt of the season inside the 20, Kucek ties a career-best single season total he set last season.

-Sophomore Adam Weber moved to third all time with 494 career completions at Minnesota.

∙Each of the Gophers’ 11 seniors (William Brody, Steve Davis, Deon Hightower, Justin Kucek, Mike Maciejowski, Kevin Mannion, Joel Monroe, Steve Moore, Tony Mortensen, Jack Simmons and Willie VanDeSteeg), playing in their final home game, were honored in a pregame ceremony. All 11 seniors saw playing time.
