POSTGAME QUOTES
Minnesota 69 Indiana 54
Williams Arena Minneapolis, MN
Minnesota head coach Pam Borton
Opening statement:
“It was a great team effort. We told our team before the game that we were due to have everyone come out and play up to their abilities. We had a lot of quality minutes from a lot of different kids. We were happy that we were able to hold them to 29% shooting.
“With Leslie having the game she did and being able to celebrate Jordan and Lindsay tonight was just a wonderful way to do it.
“I think we did an excellent job in our 2-3 zone tonight and we did a good job containing their shooting. Our plan was to close down their transition game and to give them only one shot. It seems like we were successful.
On Zoe Harper:
“It makes such a big difference when we have a big post presence like Zoey was for us tonight. That was key for us and it gave everyone a lot of confidence and freed some things up for some easy baskets.
On the Gophers' NCAA tournament aspirations:
“I think we tried to curb [the bubble' talk] before these first two games. We kind of sat down with the team and kind of laid out the fact that our destiny is in our own hands. There are only two kids on our team that have NCAA tournament experience, so a lot of this is new for our kids.
Minnesota forward Leslie Knight
“I think we were able to shake Saturday off. Pam and I talked about this being my last game, and I came to terms with it. We knew that it would be all business when we went out there and I'm just happy the way it turned out.
“I think the other girls were stressing a little about his game. We calmed down and had players like Zoey Harper step up and play great games.
“I had a lot of family and friends here tonight. To help and give Pam her 200th win was something special to be a part of. It was great. I have no regrets.'
Minnesota guard Emily Fox
“I've been so fortunate to play with Leslie and watch her grow during her time here. I love playing with her and I've been fortunate to have that opportunity.
“We've had our games where one of us struggles and the other plays well. Tonight, I think it really came together. I think that's big going into the next couple of important games.
On the upcoming game at Michigan:
“We haven't played Michigan yet this year, but we know that we have to play well. We know that this is an important game coming up and we'll have to be ready to play.'
