The Minnesota volleyball team defeated the Guaynabo Volleyball Club in five games by scores of 25-21, 18-25, 23-25, 25-19, 25-17 in its second match of its Puerto Rico trip.

Minnesota was led by Brook Dieter (Bloomington, Minn.) who had 18 kills and hit .340, while Kelly Schmidt (Champaign, Ill.) had 12 kills and hit .330. Lauren Gibbemeyer also had 11 kills in the match.

It was the Golden Gophers second victory of the day. Earlier in the day, Minnesota defeated the University of Puerto Rico-Cayey in three games.

“We have seven players on this trip, so our conditioning is being tested in these matches,' said Minnesota Head Coach Mike Hebert. “Our players have done a good job of playing at a consistently high level. I think we are playing better right now then we did at any point last year. We were very happy with the performances in both of our matches today.'
