Risebrough Captures Women's Tennis MVP Honors

Senior Lindsay Risebrough captured three of Minnesota’s four women’s tennis team awards, including the team’s Most Valuable Player honor for the 2007-08 season.
Risebrough, an Edina native who was also the team’s captain, finished the season with career highs for victories, posting a 15-15 singles record and 16-13 doubles mark. In addition to her Most Valuable Player award, Risebrough was selected as the team’s Most Improved Player and MacGyver Award winner. She was also Minnesota’s selection to the all-Big Ten Sportsmanship team.
Risebrough primarily played at the No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles positions. She was 4-6 in Big Ten matches and finished 5-3 in three-set matches, including three wins that sealed one-point team victories. Four of her season losses came to nationally-ranked opponents.
She concluded her career with 52 singles wins and 43 doubles wins, giving her 95 total victories to rank 23rd on Minnesota’s all-time list.
The team’s Most Enthusiastic Award went to sophomore Liz Tusler. The Neenah, Wis. native finished the season 5-5 in singles and 5-2 in doubles.
Minnesota finished the year with a 15-11 record overall and a 3-7 mark in Big Ten play. Risebrough and Danielle Mousseau were the team’s lone seniors on the 14-player roster.
