University of Minnesota forward Jen Schoullis (Girard, Pa.) has been selected to compete at the United States' Under-22 Camp, announced today by USA Hockey. Schoullis joins fellow teammates Gigi Marvin (Warroad, Minn.) and Emily West (Colorado Springs, Colo.), along with incoming freshmen Sarah Erickson (LaPorte, Minn.), Jocelyne Lamoureux (Grand Forks, N.D.), Monique Lamoureux (Grand Forks, N.D.) and Anne Schleper (St. Cloud, Minn.) at the Under-22 Camp, June 24-July 1 in Lake Placid, N.Y. In all, 34 players will be vying for 22 spots on the 2008 team and will participate in the USA Hockey Women's National Festival in August. If they make the team, they will play against Canada in the Under-22 Series.
Overall, Minnesota has the best representation among Division I institutions with seven athletes, followed by Harvard with four and Boston College with three. Of the 34 players invited to the camp, 13 hail from the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. Along with seven from Minnesota, St. Cloud State has two (Felicia Nelson and Meaghan Pezon), Wisconsin has two (Hilary Knight and Erika Lawler), while Ohio State (Shannon Reilly) and Minnesota Duluth (Jaime Rasmussen) each have one competing at the camp.
Schoullis finished her rookie season with 20 points, ranking eighth on the team. Competing with one of Minnesota's top lines of the season, Schoullis had seven goals and 13 assists and five power-play points. In her freshman season, Schoullis earned WCHA Rookie of the Week honors after helping the Golden Gophers to a series sweep over Minnesota Duluth.
