Perfect Percentage: Men's Basketball Team Graduates all Four 2008 Seniors

6/2/2008 12:00:00 AM | Men's Basketball

When looking at offensive statistics, 100% is a number every basketball team shoots for while on the court; however, the 2007-2008 Golden Gophers Men's Basketball Team proved this number has significance off the court as well by graduating a perfect percentage of seniors this year.

Coming off one of its most successful seasons in recent years, the program must say goodbye to four graduating seniors. The 2008 graduates include forward Dan Coleman, guard Lawrence McKenzie, guard Ryan Saunders and center Spencer Tollackson.

“We wish the 2008 graduates the best of luck, and we look for great things from them as they move forward,' said Golden Gopher head coach Tubby Smith. “We have enjoyed working with each one of these young men tremendously, and they will certainly be missed by this program.'

Graduating four of four seniors is an impressive accomplishment for any sport, especially in men's basketball. The Gophers' 2008 graduating class fell well above the national graduation rate this season.

“We expect graduation to be the norm from our student-athletes in this program,' Smith went on to say. “We were glad, but not surprised, to see these four met the expectations that we will always have from our athletes at the University of Minnesota.'

The 2008 graduating class will be remembered for its consistent display of class, passionate play and unrelenting tenacity. All four graduating seniors displayed these characteristics both on and off the court, which is not always the norm in their sport, and will be missed by their fans, coaches, and teammates.
