The Big Ten Network announced today that US Cable will add the Big Ten Network to its channel lienups just in time for the start of the college football season.
US Cable will offer the network on its expanded basic level of service to the majority of its customers in Minnesota beginning on August 29. The Big Ten Network in HD will also be available on the HD Plus level of service in Cambridge and Wabasha.
The announcement was made by US Cable vice president of operations, Joseph Appio, and Big Ten Network president Mark Silverman.
“We’re thrilled that US Cable is joining the long and growing list of distribution partners offering the Big Ten Network to their customers,” Silverman said. “When fans tune in, they’ll find unparalleled coverage of Big Ten sports they’ll see more action and more in-depth analysis than ever before.”
US Cable serves 28 counties throughout the state of Minnesota, covering portions of the north- central, southwest, south-central and southeast portions off the state plus the northern Twin Cities counties of Anoka, Chisago, Isanti, Sherburne and Washington.
With the addition of US Cable, the Big Ten Network now has carriage agreements with more than 230 community-based cable systems, and all of the top alternative video, satellite and telephony-based video suppliers providing local service within the eight states with Big Ten universities. The network is available to approximately 70 percent of all homes in the eight Big Ten states and could reach up to 55 million homes nationwide.
