The TCF Bank Stadium continued to take shape during July. On the exterior, finishing touches are being put on the steel structure while work continues of on the upper and lower seating bowls and the exterior memorial wall. The scoreboards are being constructed and roofing is being laid. Glass for the ticketing area is over 60% complete.

Inside, plumbing and electrical rough in work continues as does fireproofing and interior masonry and wall framing. Rooms are beginning to take shape and areas becoming recognizable.
SAFETY
Job site safety is a major focus for the University and for Mortenson Construction and its subcontractors. In addition to specific training about how to avoid injuries and what to do in the event of an emergency, workers meet on site each morning for stretching exercises prior to beginning work. The site is regularly visited by OSHA (the Occupational Safety & Health Administration) and by Mortenson’s Safety Leadership Team. There are currently more than 640 workers on site. A safety luncheon held on July 2, 2008 marked the first year of construction and was attended by over 700 people.
UPCOMING ROADWORK
- Oak Street between 4th and 6th Streets SE – Work on Oak Street between 4th and 6th Streets SE for Metropolitan Council sanitary sewer work will start this coming Monday August 25, 2008. This work is scheduled to be completed by November 1, 2008.
- Work for the underground chilled water line connecting Mariucci to the TCF Bank Stadium has been completed.
- Additional work for the Medical Biosciences Building (north of the Stadium) is forthcoming.
- Road work will be done under traffic.
- Beacon Street between Oak and Ontario – is CLOSED for extension of a sewer line. This sewer work is scheduled to be completed by November 1, 2008.
CONSTRUCTION OVERVIEW
The second year of Stadium construction is underway. Most of the steel Stadium structure is now in place and the seating bowl and exterior masonry work are well underway. The Stadium will be fully enclosed by fall 2008 when major interior finishing will begin. The TCF Bank Stadium is slated for substantial completion in July 2009 and will open for the first Gopher football game of the season on September 12, 2009.
