Gophers Ranked No. 1 in Both Polls

The University of Minnesota women's hockey team has taken over the No. 1 spot in both the U.S. College Hockey Online and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls, announced by both organizations.
After
Under head coach Brad Frost, the Gophers are 19-2-1 overall this season and 14-1-1 against Western Collegiate Hockey Association teams. Minnesota, who is currently on a 14-game win streak, defeated Ohio State 9-2 and 12-1 last weekend. Minnesota's last loss came on Oct. 26 when the Badgers won, 2-1, in Madison. Leading the Gophers in scoring is freshman Monique Lamoureux with 39 points (19-20-39), followed by Gigi Marvin with 33 points and Jocelyne Lamoureux with 32 points.
The No. 1 Gophers will play nine of their final 12 regular season games at home. Minnesota hosts Bemidji State this weekend (Jan. 16-17) at Ridder Arena. Friday's game is set for 6:07 p.m., while Saturday's game is at 4:07 p.m. Following the Beaver series, Minnesota hosts Minnesota Duluth, Jan. 23-24.
