Team Notes:
Tubby Smith is now 36-17 as the head coach at Minnesota, and 423-162 for his career.

Minnesota has lost back-to-back games for the first time this season.
Tonight’s crowd was a sellout at 14,625. It was the third time this year that there was a sellout at Williams Arena.

The Golden Gophers were 27-for-31 from the free throw line, and were 16-for-16 from the charity stripe in the second half. Minnesota also made its last 24 free throws in a row to finish the game.
The Gophers struggled from three-point range, making 2-of-7 attempts in the first half, and were just 1-for-12 after halftime to finish 3-for-19 (15.8) in the loss. The 15.8 shooting percentage was its lowest of the season.

Damian Johnson had three blocks in the game. It marked the eighth time that Johnson has recorded three or more blocks in a game this year.

Ralph Sampson III tied a career-high with seven rebounds in the game.
Al Nolen scored a team-best 17 points on the night. It was Nolen’s fifth double-figure scoring game of the year, and the ninth of his career.
Nolen was 10-for-10 from the free-throw line on the night. It marked the second time this season that he finished with double-figures at the foul line. He made 13 free throws against Louisville on Dec. 20.
Nolen had four steals in the game, marking the fifth time this year he has had four or more steals in a game.
Nolen’s six rebounds were the most since he had eight against South Dakota State on Dec. 10.
Paul Carter tied a career-high with three blocks in the game.
Devoe Joseph tied a career-high with three steals.
Joseph also had eight points to match his highest point total in Big Ten play. He also had eight against Northwestern on Jan. 18.
Lawrence Westbrook scored 12 points on the night. It was the 16th time in 18 games he has scored in double figures. Westbrook has scored in double figures in his last nine games., and has combined for 59 points over his past three starts.
Westbrook had a career-high eight free throws made on the night.
Travis Busch had a career-high two blocks on the night.
