Niagara called for a slashing penalty, giving Minnesota a power play opportunity. Minnesota was 2-for-3 yesterday. Minnesota couldn't score on the power play. As Niagara went full strength, Monique Lamoureux was called with a slash giving NU a power play attempt. But Niagara couldn't score during its attempt either. 14:24 remaining in the first period.

Sunday pregame: Like yesterday, Minnesota and Niagara are participating in the Purple Eagles' cancer awareness weekend. For the second-straight day, Minnesota has pink tape just above the stick blade and around their maroon stripe in their game socks. A pregame puck drop will occur with Melanie Gagnon, a defenseman, taking one of her first faceoffs in a Gopher uniform. Kelli Blankenship, whose mother is a breast cancer survivor, taped her entire blade in pink.
Sunday pregame: Minnesota has changed its fourth and second line for the second game of the Niagara series. The Lamoureux twins are skating with Chelsey Jones, while NIkki Ludwigson is skating with Jaimie Horton and Laura May. Reading the updated linechart, Jen Schoullis centers Emily West and Gigi Marvin. Jocelyne Lamoureux is the center of the Monique Lamoureux and Chelsey Jones. Kelli Blankenship and Brittany Francis are the wings of center Sarah Erickson. D pairings remain the same: Melanie Gagnon and Kelly Seeler, Dagney Willey and Michelle Maunu and Anne Schleper and Alexandra Zebro. Minnesota will start Kim Hanlon as well as Gagnon, Seeler, Blankenship, Erickson and Francis. The start is the first for senior Kim Hanlon since the opening game against Robert Morris. Hanlon will see action now in three games this season with her other coming against Bemidji State earlier this year.

Defensive pairings: Since Rachael Drazan is out this series due to an ankle injury, Alexandra Zebro will be a defensemen this weekend. She is paired with Anne Schleper. Melanie Gagnon and Kelly Seeler and Dagney Willey and Michelle Maunu are the other D pairings. Alyssa Grogan will start today's contest as well as Gagnon and Seeler.
