Coach Tubby Smith

Opening Statement

"I thought tonight we did some great things. We got off to a good start defensively. That's how we set the tone in most games, and I think our guys have a pretty good appreciation for that. The one area was turnovers, we got a little carless there, but I thought our three-point shooting was superb tonight, and our defense was pretty consistent."

On the Gophers distribution of scoring:

"Well we've got better shooters, guys that have improved their outside shooting and gotten stronger. Guys like Devoe, and Al, and Blake, and then Justin is a very solid shooter and Rodney, so we've got some good perimeter. And our post players, like I said last time, they're passing the ball extremely well out of the post and that helps a lot. Ralph is very active around the basket. When guys are moving the ball, good shots start with good passing."

Sophomore Guard Devoe Joseph:

On this year's team having more scoring options than last year:

"As far as a team we're sharing the ball a lot better, and that's why a lot more guys score. Just looking at the sheet here, almost everyone had an assist, which shows that everyone's being unselfish, a lot more guys are scoring, and we're getting the ball moved so everyone's getting good shots."

On adjusting to playing point guard:

"Well just being a freshman, you know you come into a new system, and it's not always the exact same as how it is in high school , so it's a learning process, you know? And even for my sophomore and junior year I'm just expecting to keep learning and getting better and better every year."
