Minnesota Ranked No. 12 in AVCA Poll

The Minnesota volleyball team (21-7, 12-4) is ranked No. 12 for the week of Nov. 16 in the AVCA poll. The Golden Gophers received 831 points this week in the poll.
Minnesota has been ranked for 29 consecutive weeks in the top 25. The school record came from Oct. 20, 2003 to Sept. 4, 2006 when they were ranked in 40 straight polls. The Golden Gophers are one of only eight teams in the nation this year to have been ranked No. 13 or higher in every poll this year.
Last week, Minnesota defeated Iowa and Wisconsin in three sets on the road. The Golden Gophers moved to within one match of second place 12-4 with the two victories. Penn State is currently in first place in the Big Ten at 16-0, while Illinois is in second place at 13-3.
Minnesota is one of four Big Ten teams ranked in the top 25 this week. The Golden Gophers are joined by No. 1 Penn State, No. 5 Illinois and No. 14 Michigan.
The Golden Gophers will travel to No. 14 Michigan on Friday, Nov. 20 at 6 p.m. (CT). Minnesota will also face Michigan State in a road match on Saturday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. (CT). That match will broadcast on the Big Ten Network on a tape-delayed basis on Sunday, Nov. 22 at 8 p.m. (CT). Both matches can also be heard live on the Gold Zone.
