Wiecha Captures Campus Match Play Title

University of Minnesota sophomore Magdalena Wiecha captured the individual title at the Campus Match Play women's tennis showdown on Sun., Nov. 15 at the Baseline Tennis Center.

The open event, which is a joint United States Tennis Association and Intercollegiate Tennis Association program, was open to juniors, college players, professionals and adults and consisted of one-set matches.

Wiecha defeated Gophers' freshman Doron Muravnik in the title match after posting a victory over teammate Ronni Saxon in the semifinals. She opened with a win over Emilie Renault, a senior at Rochester Mayo High School. Wiecha place fourth in last year's event and avenged a loss to Renault in last year's semifinals.
