Junior Aaron Studt won the weight throw and shot put as Golden Gophers won five events at the Adidas Classic, hosted by the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, Neb., on Saturday. Minnesota placed second with 105 points in a rare regular-season scored meet. Nebraska captured the title with 185 points.

Studt won the weight with a career-best effort of 66 feet, 1 1/2 inches, a mark that ranks as the third-best throw in school history. The mark improves his NCAA provisional distance. He added the title in the shot put with a throw of 56-11 1/2.

The Gophers displayed great depth in both events as well. Andy Bastian finished second in the weight with a career-best heave of 63 3 1/2, the sixth-best mark in school history. Trey Davis added a fourth-place throw of 60-1 1/4, good for eighth on the Gophers’ all-time list.

Minnesota swept the top three spots in the shot put. Davis was second with a throw of 56-9 1/2 and Tyler Kleinhuizen third with an effort of 56-0.

Other Gophers winning title were Ibrahim Kabia, Andy Richardson and David Gierut. Kabia sprinted to a time of 6.65 seconds to win the 60-meter dash. Richardson placed first in the mile run with a time of 4 minutes, 9.39 seconds. Gierut collected a first-place finish in the pole vault with a height of 15-7.
