The Gophers' women's tennis team was honored for having the top grade point average of all small women's squads at the University of Minnesota on Monday.
The team posted a 3.37 cumulative team grade point average through the fall semester, which ranked only behind cross country, swimming and diving and track and field among women's sports. It was the best among all women's teams with 30 or fewer student-athletes.
Women's tennis was also the university's only men's or women's sport where every member of the team was honored as a scholar-athlete, meaning all 13 squad members carry a minimum 3.00 grade point average.
The award was presented on Mon., Feb. 16 at the school's annual scholar-athlete banquet at Memorial Hall on campus.
