Gophers Win Three Events at Bethlel Invite

Brock Spandl, Matt Fisher and Sean Duling won events as the Minnesota men’s track team had several athletes take part in the Bethel Invitational on Saturday.

Spandl won the pole vault, tying an indoor personal best with a height of 16 feet, 6 3/4 inches. Fisher claimed first in the high jump with a leap of 6-9 3/4. Duling was the Gophers’ only titlist on the track, winning the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 7.79 seconds.

The Gophers also had five runner-up performances: Jon Lenz in the 400 meters (52.70), Joe McFarland in the 800 meters (1:55.39), Sean Olson in the mile (4:19.37), Luke Silovich in the 55-meter hurdles (7.83) and Matt Clauer in the high jump (6-8).

Minnesota will compete athletes in three events next weekend, the Iowa State Classic, the Washington Husky Classic and the UW-River Falls Classic.
