Several Golden Gopher football players took to the field inside the Gibson-Nagurski Football Complex to work out for NFL scouts. Players working out included Steve Davis, Deon Hightower, Jack Simmons, Willie VanDeSteeg and Justin Kucek. The pro day also provided an opportunity for other athletes from neighboring universities such as Minnesota-Duluth, St. Cloud State and North Dakota State to be tested, including Bison linebacker Mike Maresh, older brother of Gopher freshman Sam Maresh.
Another notable attendee was former NCAA heavyweight wrestling champion Cole Konrad. Winner of back-to-back NCAA titles for the Golden Gophers, Konrad was invited to the New York Jets' rookie camp in 2007.
The day began with complete height/weight measurements of all the players, followed by a myriad of drills including the vertical leap, bench press and 40-yard dash.
The event also brought in many notable onlookers, including current Houston Texan Dom Barber, who attended last year's pro day. Among the former Golden Gophers in attendance were Darrell Thompson and Mike Sherels.
