Six With Gopher Ties Named to U.S. Prelim Roster

Current University of Minnesota women's hockey players Rachael Drazan, Jocelyne Lamoureux, Monique Lamoureux and Gigi Marvin have all been selected to the U.S. National Team preliminary roster, announced today by USA Hockey. Along with the current Gophers, former Gophers Natalie Darwitz (current assistant coach) and Erica McKenzie have also been selected.

The Minnesota players are six of 32 candidates for the 2009 U.S. Women's National Team. A tryout/training camp will be held at the Olympic Center in Lake Placid, N.Y., from March 24-30, with the final 21-player roster to be announced on March 26. Those players will go on to help the United States defend its world title at the 2009 International Ice Hockey Federation World Women's Championship from April 4-12, in Hameenlinna, Finland. Team USA will depart for Finland on March 30.
