The University of Minnesota softball team will wear pink hair ribbons during its game at Purdue University on Saturday afternoon, as it participates in a Breast Cancer Awareness Day event.

The Boilermakers will don black and pink jerseys for the event, and Purdue Athletics is encouraging all fans attending the game to come out to the Varsity Softball Complex wearing pink to support the cause.

Pink breast cancer bracelets will be given out to the first 200 fans as they enter the stadium. Information from the Purdue Cancer Center and the American Cancer Society will be available at the game to further awareness.

Breast cancer survivors interested in being honored during an in-game presentation are encouraged to contact Purdue's Andrew Ledman via email at dledman@purdue.edu.

First pitch on Saturday is slated for 1:00 p.m. CT.
