Gophers Continue Academic Success

3/27/2009 12:00:00 AM | Women's Basketball

The Golden Gopher women’s basketball team landed five players Emily Fox, Zoe Harper, Brittany McCoy, Katie Ohm and Kay Sylva on the Academic All-Big Ten Team. During the Pam Borton era, the last seven seasons, Minnesota’s 43 Academic All-Big Ten honorees is the most of any Big Ten Conference women’s basketball program.

Minnesota added the 2008 Fall semester to the list of terms where the Gophers compiled a team grade point average of over 3.0. Last fall, the Gophers earned a collective GPA of 3.109. Even more impressive is the cumulative GPA of this team - 3.216. The Gophers have earned a 3.0 in every semesters of Borton's coaching tenure.

Earlier this year, Fox was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Second Team. Fox is a journalism major on pace to graduate this May.
