The Golden Gopher football team completed its 10th practice of the spring outdoors in the best weather so far this spring on Tuesday afternoon at the Gibson-Nagurski Football Complex. While the Minnesota football team was practicing, the nationally-ranked Gopher baseball team was racking up a bunch of hits next door at Siebert Field on the way to a 12-2 win over UW-Milwaukee.

But the hits weren’t only coming at Siebert Field. It was a full-contact practice on Rod Wallace Field as well.

One of the biggest hits of the day came late in the session, during some scrimmage work. Wide receiver David Pittman set his sights on linebacker Gary Tinsley, who was attempting to make a tackle on one of Pittman’s offensive teammates. If Tinsley saw the hit coming it was too late and Pittman tallied a classic "de-cleater" that drew plenty of ooh’s and aah’s from the sidelines.

Tinsley’s a tough kid, though. He bounced right back off the turf and completed the series. The offense had one of the bigger hits of the day and also seemed to be gaining a little bit of ground on the defense Tuesday. Coach Brewster praised his offense post-practice, saying that while the defense is still ahead, the offense made some plays. Both the No. 1 and No. 2 offense scored during the team session late in the practice.
