The Minnesota volleyball program has signed Jasmine Dittrich to a letter of intent according to an announcement by Minnesota head coach Mike Hebert. Dittrich will be eligible to compete for the Golden Gophers during the 2009 season.

Dittrich, who is a 5-11 middle blocker from John Marshall High School in Rochester, Minn., is a three-sport standout in basketball, track and volleyball. She helped lead her volleyball team to a 14-7 overall record and a 7-2 record in the Big 9 as a junior. Dittrich also helped lead her basketball team to the state tournament as a senior. In track, she is a standout in the 100, triple jump and long jump.

She was also named the KAAL Prep Athlete of the Week for Apr. 16, 2008. That week she won three races, and finished in another on her way to her team win a meet over a seven other schools.

"We were very impressed with Jasmine's athletic ability when we saw her play," said Hebert. "She has a great deal of raw athletic ability, and she demonstrates a good capacity for learning which will help her pick up the necessary skills to compete at this level. Not very many athletes can touch 10-7, and we feel that with the combination of her natural athleticism and her ability to learn quick she can be a key contributor in our program."

Dittrich will join a freshmen class that consists of Katherine Harms, Brianna Haugen, Tabitha Love and Mia Tabberson. With the addition of Dittrich to the class, the Golden Gophers are now bringing in three in-state products to join the program.

"Our goal has always been to keep the top local kids in state," said Hebert. "We believe with her athleticism that Jasmine is a player who belongs on that list."
