Minnesota (26 - 12, 9 - 4) and Purdue (17 - 20, 5 - 8) square off at the Metrodome today at 1:05 PM. Minnesota has taken the first two games of the series by scores of 4 - 3 and 3 - 1.

1:05 PM - Seth Rosin delivers the first pitch of the game.

1:15 PM - Seth Rosin pitches around a leadoff double by striking out the side. Rosin's strike outs included dangerous Boilermaker hitter Dan Black after Black worked the count to 3 - 0. Purdue 0, Minnesota 0, Bottom 1.

1:25 PM - AJ Pettersen strikes out for only the 11th time this season. Coming into this series with Purdue, Pettersen had struck out once every 16.5 at-bats making him the 28th toughest hitter in the nation to ring up. Purdue 0, Minnesota 0, Top 2.

1:27 PM - College baseball rules state that a coach does not have to declare his DH until that spot comes up in the line-up. Purdue employs this tactic as they originally put yesterday's starting pitcher in the designated hitter spot, which is now being filled by Tyler Spillner. Purdue 0, Minnesota 0, Top 2.

1:43 PM - Minnesota strikes first on a bases loaded Matt Nohelty double. Entering the series, Minnesota is 15 - 7 when scoring first. Purdue 0, Minnesota 2, Top 3.

1:58 PM - Seth Rosin again strikes out the side which strands another Purdue baserunner at second base. Rosin has six big strikeouts so far. Purdue 0, Minnesota 2, Bottom 3.

This Day in Gopher Baseball History

Ninety-nine years ago on April 26, the Gophers opened up the 1910 campaign with a 9 - 0 victory over Concordia-St. Paul. The Gophers went on to finish 10 - 9 (3 - 5) under the tutelage of Walter Wilmot and Perry Werden.

3:11 PM - It's stretch time here at the Metrodome and distinguished Purdue alumni Neil Armstrong and Orville Redenbacher are on the organ playing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame!" Purdue 2, Minnesota 3, Bottom 7.

3:20 PM - Derek McCallum deposits his 11th home run of the season about six rows deep in the upper deck just left of the right field foul pole. McCallum's 11 homers are the most by a Gopher since 2002 when Luke Appert had 14 and Jason Kennedy had 12. Purdue 2, Minnesota 5, Bottom 7.

3:35 PM - Justin Gominsky reaches base for the fourth time in four chances this game. A large contingent of supporters from Gominsky's hometown of Mahtomedi are here to support their local hero. Purdue 2, Minnesota 5, Bottom 8.

3:45 PM - Scott Matyas enters the game and it attempting to save his second game in as many days. Purdue 2, Minnesota 5, Bottom 8.

3:51 PM - The Gophers turn their trademark 4-6-3 double play to finish the game. Minnesota comes away with the series sweep and is now 10 - 4 in the conference. Purdue 2, Minnesota 5, FINAL.
