Minnesota Lands Top Recruiting Class in Nation

The Minnesota volleyball program's 2009 recruiting class has been named No. 1 in the nation by prepvolleyball.com according to a release that lists the top 30 teams in the nation.
Minnesota's recruiting class includes 5-10 middle blocker Jasmine Dittrich (Rochester, Minn.), 6-1, right-side hitter Katherine Harms (Albertville, Minn.), 6-1 middle blocker Brianna Haugen, 6-6 outside hitter Tabi Love (Dauphin, Manitoba) and 6-1 setter Mia Tabberson (Muncie, Ind.). Minnesota also welcomes a pair of transfers in 5-11 senior setter Taylor Carico and 6-1 senior right-side hitter Megan Wilson.
The rankings of prepvolleyball.com did not include the transfers or Tabitha Love, because the criteria is based only on incoming freshmen players from the United States.
It marks the first time that Minnesota has been tabbed with the top recruiting class in the nation. The Golden Gophers have collected top five recruiting class honors in 2003 (No. 4), 2005 (No. 4) and 2007 (No. 4).
"Our assistant coaches have done a great job putting together this recruiting class and they deserve a lot of credit for the high ranking of this incoming group," said Minnesota Head Coach Mike Hebert. "This group of incoming freshmen are as good as any class we have had come in here from a talent standpoint, and we look forward to getting them into program and blending with an accomplished returning core of players."
