Gopher Game Day Preview Set For August 22nd

Golden Gopher football season ticket holders are being given a chance to experience TCF Bank Stadium prior to the start of the 2009 football season.
U of M Athletics Department officials announced today that the Gopher Game Day Preview will be held in the new on-campus home of Minnesota football on Saturday, August 22.
The first public event hosted in TCF Bank Stadium, the Gopher Game Day Preview is being held exclusively for season ticket holders and students with official University identification. It will provide those in attendance with the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the best routes to TCF Bank Stadium, locate their parking and determine where to enter the new facility in advance of the inaugural game on Sept. 12. Once inside, season ticket holders and students will get to sit in their seats as well as locate concession stands, restroom facilities and other amenities.
“The Gopher Game Day Preview will be a great introduction to TCF Bank Stadium for our season ticket holders and students,” said Director of Athletics Joel Maturi. “We are all excited about the stadium and football’s return to campus and this is a terrific opportunity for our loyal fans to see the stadium firsthand in a game day setting before the start of the season.”
As an added bonus, attendees will get a sneak peak of the 2009 Gophers during the Maroon and Gold team scrimmage. The scrimmage will last approximately 1 ½ hours and begin at 3 p.m. TCF Bank Stadium will open at 1 p.m. for premium seat holders. All remaining gates will be open at 1:30 p.m.
To make the game-day atmosphere complete, the Gophers will hold a Victory Walk beginning at 1 p.m. The Victory Walk will start at the McNamara Alumni Center plaza and cross to the stadium site at Oak and University.
Season ticket holders will also be permitted to tailgate in approved lots, beginning at noon.
Season ticket holders who have purchased season parking permits will be able to park in their selected lots for the Gopher Game Day Preview. Attendees who have not yet purchased season parking permits will be directed to either St. Paul or the West Bank parking locations, where they can take shuttles to TCF Bank Stadium.
Season ticket holders will receive Gopher Game Day Preview ticket and parking information with their season ticket mailing prior to the event.
