GopherSports.com will provide a daily blog from the beginning of fall camp until the week of the season-opener at Syracuse, set for Sept. 5. Check back here often for updates from throughout preseason camp. Associate Athletic Communications Director Andy Seeley will be penning most of these blogs. If you would like to ask a question about fall camp, have a request for something you’d like to see in the blog or just a comment on the blog, feel free to send Andy an e-mail at aseeley@umn.edu.

Monday morning came not-so-bright, but definitely early for the Golden Gopher football team. The entire squad was up before dawn and ready for their annual conditioning test, which was held at 6 a.m. at the Gibson-Nagurski Complex.
Head strength and conditioning coach Mark Hill took the team through a warm-up period before putting the Gophers through their paces with a number of wind-sprints. The team was broken down into three groups, by position. Each group was given an allotted amount of time to complete its sprints.
It was obvious that the team’s summer conditioning had paid off. Many of the Gophers even finished each of their sprints with a good deal of time to spare.
Coach Brewster was happy with the shape his team was in Monday morning.
“I thought they did a nice job with the conditioning test and just set the tone for the day,” Brewster said.
For the Gopher players, the rest of the day includes some time in the weight room, meetings, walk-throughs and then the first official practice of the 2009 season, which is slated for 4 p.m.
We’ll log a report from that first practice later this evening.
