Fall Practice Volleyball Blog: Taylor Carico

We began the second day of practices with breakfast at 7:15 a.m. Our cooks served us my favorite breakfast food, French Toast. It was nothing less than delicious.

In the morning practice we focused on cover drills. We also did individual setter and hitter work by position. We finished practice with a six-vs-six scrimmage, but we were only allowed to set the middle or back row to score points.

After morning practice, we sprinted downstairs to the training room to get into the ice baths. We just wanted to get them over with and get upstairs for lunch. The freshmen were hilarious watching them get into the cold water, shivering and whining. However, every one of them survived the daily ice bath.

We had lunch and then free time to follow. Most of the girls watched the movie "Obsessed", with Beyonce, during the break. The other girls either took a nap or relaxed in the locker room.

The second practice involved positional work with the setters and focusing on the defensive system. We closed practice with two games of competitive scrimmaging.

After dinner, we had a short team meeting. We watched a few clips from the “Dead Poet’s Society". We had a discussion on carpe diem and how we are going to apply that to our season.

Once the meeting drew to a close, we all rushed home for bedtime.
