Check back here often for updates from throughout preseason camp. Associate Athletic Communications Director Andy Seeley will be penning most of these blogs. Greetings Golden Gopher football fans.  It was a great day to be out at practice this evening with a nice breeze and temps in the low 70's.

The team went a little bit later today, kicking off practice at 4:30.  Overall, practice looked pretty sharp for the Golden Gophers.  The team was crisp in 11-on-11 sessions, playing fast, and fitting up well.

The offense did some nice things today, including a beautiful Adam Weber to Eric Decker pass completion up the seam on the second play of the first team session.  Later on in the session, MarQueis Gray hooked up with Da'Jon McKnight on a similar play.  The defense ended 11-on-11 drills with a Ryan Collado pick near the sideline.

When asked about the status of the team thus far, head coach Tim Brewster offered these words.  "I'm really pleased with where we're at, the work ethic has been outstanding, the attention to detail has been excellent to this point, and what we've got to do is we've got to make sure that we just finish.  You know that's obviously a recurring theme with us is finishing, finishing training camp the right way, being physical.  We'll come back, it's a big challenge tomorrow morning to come back in full pads and be physical.  We're going to scrimmage tomorrow morning, a lot of situational stuff, so the full padded practices are extremely critical to us."

Some shots from practice can be seen in the video below.

Other news of the day included the announcement that Sept. 5 opponent, Syracuse, has named former Duke basketball player Greg Paulus as their starting quarterback.  When asked about facing such an unknown in the opener, Brewster first stated that he was not surprised, but went on to mention his high school accomplishments and that he does not expect Paulus to get overly ratteled playing football, because of his experience in pressure situaions playing basketball.

Linebacker Nate Triplett also fielded questions about their game one opponent which, along with Coach Brewster, can be seen in the video below.
