Camp Blog: Game Planning Begins

The University of Minnesota football team worked out under bright, sunny skies Tuesday afternoon at the Gibson-Nagurski Football Complex.
Head coach Tim Brewster was happy with the practice session. He said it was a lively workout.
“The guys flew around and again the attention to detail was good,” Brewster said. “I thought we executed better across the board.”
Senior tight end Nick Tow-Arnett agreed that Tuesday’s practice session was positive.
“Practice today was tough,” he said. “Just a lot of work today and a lot of mental stuff, too.”
Part of the energy level probably had to do with the fact that there is a light at the end of the tunnel on camp now. Today was one of the first days of heavy attention to the season-opening opponent, Syracuse.
“We’ve been looking at some stuff for a little while,” Tow-Arnett said. “But today was the first day we went out there and had really good looks at them and what they’re going to do.”
“We’re working on Syracuse right now,” Brewster said. “We’re game-planning Syracuse at this particular point. I thought the scout work was excellent.”
Tow-Arnett said it has been a good camp for him and for the team, overall.
“It’s been good,” Tow-Arnett said of camp. “We’ll definitely be ready in a couple weeks. I’m still trying to work on what I’ve been doing the last couple years. It’s my last year, I’ve got to have a good go-round.”

Wednesday was supposed to be the final of six two-a-day sessions. But Coach Brewster has been happy enough with camp so far that he has knocked Wednesday down to just one practice. Prior to Wednesday’s practice, Coach Brewster, his staff and a number of the Gopher players will get a chance to mingle with fans at the Gopher Kick-Off Luncheon at TCF Bank Stadium.
