Over the past few months, GopherSports.com has been bringing you exclusive interviews with future Gophers who signed letters of intent earlier this year. Wrapping up the series is wide receiver Victor Keise. GopherSports.com caught up with the standout from North Broward Prep recently. The Coral Springs, Fla. product sharedhis thoughts on TCF Bank Stadium, transitioning to college life and his goals for the future. Here’s a transcript of that interview:
Gophersports.com: Talk about your first few weeks on campus. How's the transition to college life coming along?
Victor Keise: "I've had a nice time since coming to Minnesota. The hardest thing right now is the weather can be a little chilly, but I'll get used to it. Other than that, classes are going well. The transition hasn’t been too bad."
GS: Other than the weather, what has been the biggest difference between Minnesota and Florida?
VK: "There's a lot more to do in Minnesota. There's a lot more diversity and possibility out here. Those are some of the reasons I came to Minnesota."
GS: What made you decide to come to Minnesota when you went through the recruiting process?
VK: "First off, it was Coach Brewster's attitude and how emotional he is with the program. I could see what he was doing with results from the first year to the second. Also, if I don't play football after college there are so many opportunities in Minnesota."
GS: Is there someone you pattern your style of game after?
VK: "I try to play like Terrell Owens. I'm working on getting bigger and more physical with the corners, so I can go up and make plays."
GS: What are your thoughts on the new stadium?
VK: "The stadium is amazing. I can't wait to get out there. I was in the locker room the other day and it was unlike anything I had ever seen before."
GS: Do you realize you are part of the first class to play their entire career at TCF Bank Stadium?
VK: "Words can't really explain how I feel about that, because this is not an every day thing. Not many people get to be the first class to play at a brand-new stadium on campus. There will be a lot more excitement for the school."
GS: What are your goals for your first season?
VK: "I'm working hard right now. I want to get on the field and make some plays and do what I can to help the team."
GS: What are your career goals?
VK: "I'm trying to leave Minnesota being the leading receiver. I want to leave my mark."
GS: What has it been like to be a part of Coach Hill's conditioning program?
VK: "It's real similar to what I've been doing back home. The sand pit gets me, even though I'm from Florida. There is something about training in the sand that gets me every time."
GS: What would you normally do if you had the day to yourself?
VK: "I would probably just sit in my room, watching movies or going online. I would just realax."
GS: What's your favorite musical artist?
VK: "Lupe Fiasco. All his songs are really good."
GS: What is your favorite movie?
VK: "I have to go with Rush Hour. I really like Chris Tucker and him and Jackie Chan are a good combo."
GS: What's your favorite food?
VK: "I'll go with spaghetti."
GS: Do you have a message for Gopher fans who will be reading this?
VK: " I'm working hard and I won't let Gopher fans down."
