Gopher Players Quotes from Sept. 15 Press Conference

Senior Linebacker Lee Campbell
On Cal’s football team:
“Cal is a great football team. They have a lot of fast skill players and tremendous athletes on their team. They have a great running back and a good quarterback. We are definitely ready to take on the challenge and host them this weekend at TCF Bank Stadium. It’s going to be our biggest test so far this season and it’s going to take all 11 guys flying around on defense to come out with a victory.”
Junior quarterback Adam Weber
On playing a tougher non-conference schedule:
“We haven’t had a very tough schedule before this year. We can win those easy schedule games, but it doesn’t prepare us for the challenge of the Big 10 schedule. This Cal game is a great challenge for us, but we haven’t shown our full potential the last two games. We can have a great showing on Saturday and carry that momentum to the Big 10.”
Senior linebacker Nate Triplett
On the difference in offensive schemes between Air Force and Cal:
“It’s important to be able to rely on each other on defense and know that we will all be at the right spot at the right time. Their offenses are a lot different, so it’s more about playing hard like we did in this last game and making the plays that we need to.”
Junior defensive back Kim Royston
On playing for Coach Brewster:
“He loves his players and he loves the game (of football). He is a very intense person and has a lot of confidence, which definitely rubs off on his players. When you are playing teams like Cal this week, you need as much confidence as you can get and you can’t doubt yourself one bit.”
Senior wide receiver Eric Decker
On Nate Triplett’s success:
“Nate has always been a great athlete. I played against him in a high school all-star game and he was the MVP of the defense. I knew coming into college that he was going to be a great player for us. He got his opportunity to play and he has really shined. He is a hard-nosed, physical football player who works hard in the weight room, practice field and classroom.”
