The Minnesota volleyball team (9-3) was ranked No. 9 in the AVCA Top 25 on Monday, Sept. 21. The Golden Gophers collected 955 points in the poll.

Minnesota went 2-1 in the Pioneer Classic this past week. In that tournament, the Golden Gophers defeated Georgia Tech in four sets and Denver in three, while dropping a five-set decision to No. 12 Oregon.

The Golden Gophers have made an appearance in 21 consecutive top 25 polls dating back to the end of the 2007 season. It is also the first time Minnesota has been ranked in the top 10 in three consecutive weeks in the same season since the end of the 2006.

Four other Big Ten teams joined the Golden Gophers in the top 25 this week, as No. 1 Penn State, No. 8 Michigan, No. 15 Illinois and No. 16 Michigan State were also ranked.

The Golden Gophers will be back in action when they open up Big Ten play against Wisconsin at the Sports Pavilion on Friday, Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. Minnesota will also face Iowa on Saturday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. Both matches will be streamed live on the Big Ten Network, and can be heard live in the Gold Zone. There will also be a live blog during both matches on gophersports.com.
