Minnesota Ranked No. 8 in AVCA Poll

The Minnesota volleyball team (11-3, 2-0) was ranked No. 8 in the AVCA poll for the week of Monday, Sept. 28. The Golden Gophers collected 1,055 points in the poll.
The No. 8 ranking is Minnesota's highest since Sept. 15, 2008 when it was also ranked No. 8 in the nation. The Golden Gophers' 1,055 points were also the most since Sept. 15, 2008.
Minnesota has also been ranked in the top 10 for four straight weeks. It marks the first time it has been ranked in the top 10 for four straight weeks in the same season since the final four weeks of the 2006 season. The Golden Gophers have now been ranked in the top 25 for 22 straight weeks.
This past week, Minnesota swept Wisconsin and Iowa at the Sports Pavilion. The Golden Gophers defeated the Badgers 25-15, 25-16, 26-24, and won by scores of 25-14, 25-14, 25-18 against the Hawkeyes.
Minnesota has won 12 straight Big Ten contests at the Sports Pavilion dating back to Oct. 26, 2007. The Golden Gophers were joined by four other Big Ten programs in the top 25. Penn State was ranked No. 1, Michigan moved to No. 6, Illinois was No. 12 and Michigan State sat at No. 23.
