Minnesota Ranked No. 19 in AVCA Poll

The Minnesota volleyball team was ranked No. 19 in this week's AVCA Top 25 according to an announcement on Monday, Oct. 11. The Gophers received 420 points in the top 25 poll this week.

Minnesota went 1-1  With the No. 16 ranking, the Golden Gophers have now been ranked in the AVCA Top 25 for 40 straight weeks dating back to the final poll in 2007. Minnesota set the school-record with 42 straight weeks in the top 25 from Oct. 20, 2003 to Sept. 4, 2006.

The Golden Gophers are joined by four Big Ten teams in the poll. Illinois is ranked No. 8, Penn State is No. 9, Michigan is No. 15 and Northwestern is No. 20. Purdue (43) and Indiana (3) also received votes in the poll.

Minnesota will be back in action when it travels to No. 4 Penn State on Friday, Oct. 15 at 6 p.m. (CT). That match can be seen on ESPN 2 on Sunday, Oct. 17 at 12 p.m. (CT). The Gophers will also face Ohio State on Saturday, Oct. 16 at 5 p.m. (CT). That match can be seen live on the Big Ten Network. Both matches can be heard in the Gold Zone.
