Minnesota All-American Jillian Tyler was named the Big Ten Conference Swimmer of the Week after leading the Golden Gopher women’s swimming & diving team to a pair of Conference dual meet victories last week.
Tyler, a senior from Calgary, Alberta, won three individual events and contributed to a winning relay in the Gophers’ opening dual meet win over Michigan. Tyler won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1 minute, 0.86 seconds, the 200 breast in 2:13.59 and 200 individual medley in 2:05.03. Her times in both breast events bettered the NCAA “B” qualifying standard.
In addition to her individual success, Tyler was part of the winning 400 medley relay versus Michigan and the 200 medley relay against Michigan State.
The award is Tyler’s fifth Big Ten Swimmer of the Week honor of her Gopher career.
