The Minnesota volleyball team was ranked for the 42nd week in a row at No. 20 in this week's AVCA Top 25 according to an announcement on Monday, Oct. 25. The Gophers received 350 points in the top 25 poll this week.

With the No. 20 ranking, the Gophers have now been ranked in the AVCA Top 25 for 42 straight weeks dating back to the final poll in 2007. That ties the school-record for consecutive weeks in the top 25 which was set from Oct. 20, 2003 to Sept. 4, 2006.

Minnesota finished the week 1-1 with a five-set loss to No. 6 Illinois and a win over Wisconsin. The Gophers led 2-1 against Illinois, but lost its fourth five-set match of the year.

The Golden Gophers are joined by four Big Ten teams in the poll. Illinois is ranked No. 6, Penn State is No. 9, Michigan is No. 15 and Northwestern is No. 24. Ohio State (39), Indiana (33) and Purdue (17) also received votes in the poll.

Minnesota will be back in action when it hosts Iowa on Wednesday, Oct. 27 at 6 p.m. That match can be seen live on the Big Ten Network. The Golden Gophers will then welcome in No. 22 Northwestern on Friday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. That match can be seen on BigTenNetwork.com. Both matches can be head live in the Gold Zone.
